FOCUS VALENTINO VAGO
Sguardo sulle collezioni: la nuova acquisizione
The Museo del Novecento presents a focus on Valentino Vago (Baralassina 1931 - Milano 2018), the first of a series of dedicated events aimed at enhancing the works generously donated to the Museum and that, due to a lack of space, cannot be displayed in the permanent collection. On display along with two historical works by Valentino Vago owned by the City of Milan – notably Composizione [Composition] from 1961 (which is part of the Boschi Di Stefano Collection) and S.R.76 (Il sole) [The Sun] from 1984, acquired by the City in 1992 – will be R.10 – 169 from 2010, recently donated to the Museum by the Valentino Vago Archives.
These three canvases, exhibited together with archival material, offer a capsule yet meaningful portrayal of Valentino Vago’s artistic exploration – one of the most outstanding Lombard abstract painters in the twentieth century – with a specific focus on the key elements of his painting: light and colour.
