The Milano Brera Rotary Club Collection Award for Contemporary Art and Young Artists is part of the many humanitarian assistance services that Rotary provides around the world, which also include support for education and literacy. From this perspective, an award for contemporary art represents an advanced declination of support for education. Indeed, there is no doubt that contemporary art represents one of the most innovative and avant-garde disciplines in today's cultural landscape, with all the complexity and difficulty of interpretation that the avant-garde brings with it.
Through the resonance of this award, now in its XII edition, the Milano Brera Rotary Club intends to create an opportunity to bring the public, including non-experts, closer to this complexity and to the values that contemporary art carries, stimulating the understanding of languages that are as new and original as they are often hermetic, in the awareness that knowledge of contemporary art represents a privileged key to interpreting our present. In 2019, the collection of works of art collected so far by the Milano Brera Rotary Club was donated to Museo del Novecento, inaugurating an important collaboration with the institution and the Municipality of Milan, offering its contribution to the city in extending the contemporary art exhibition offer. All the winning works from the next editions of the Award will automatically enter the collections of Museo del Novecento.
